Early June I will join 50 other Smiddy riders for an Epic Outback Adventure! Together over 8 days we will cycle 1500 km through the heart of Australia from Alice Springs to Darwin (up hill).
In all my travels I have never visited the red centre of Australia so I thought this would be an amazing way to see it and at the same time raise valuable funds for cancer research at the Mater Foundation. Current Mater funded projects include research into melanoma, prostate, breast and ovarian cancers.
But much like any Smiddy event, it’s a long, hard road to fight cancer … and I need your help!
It’s a sad reality that 1 in 2 Australian men and 1 in 3 Australian women will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85. There were an estimated 14.1 million cancer cases around the world in 2012 and this number is expected to increase to 24 million by 2035.
Significant investment in life-saving cancer research is the only way that these statistics are going to change. Smiddy over the last 11 years has raised over $7 million for cancer research at Mater. That’s an incredible effort, but there’s still so much more to be done to find cures for cancer - and that’s where you come in.
Please help me raise funds for cancer research at Mater by making a secure online donation to my fundraising page - every little bit helps and keep in mind as I will over the coming month -

Thank you
